Event - What If You Could Be Better? OOC Plotting
What If You Could Be Better?
Whatever a sinner remembers from the night before, they won't be quite sure why they are waking up now to blinding lights. Maybe they're being rushed through a confusing maze of halls by the familiar Mercy nurses who seem a bit... off. More so than usual. Surgically enhanced, just the way Mammon likes them. Animal features, or missing ears or noses, lips sewn shut. He's made them better, more beautiful, is what he would insist.
Not that sinners will realize that. No, they will find themselves strapped to a table. If they ask what's happening, the nurses will explain that Mercy has been expanded to include a hospital and even dental services now, thanks to Mammon's generous donations.
When asked why they were brought here, they’ll get some sympathetic tsks.
"You're here because you're ill, sweetie. You'll be fine, baby." The constant slew of sugary sweet reassurances may turn one's stomach after a bit.
Perhaps not as much as the soothing voice that comes out bright over the intercom. "Good morning, citizens of Penance. We ask that you join us this fine morning for a prayer, whether patient, visitor, or staff. Please, bow your heads and let us pray."
Staff obediently responds to the request. "We ask you, our ever present God, to bless everyone in this hospital. Be with those who are anxious and afraid, replace their fear with trust and faith in Your divine plan. Please Lord, watch over those wretched souls who have lost their way, who have none to lean on. Lead us, Lord, and fill our hearts with Your peace. Amen."

Some patients in Mercy Hospital will find themselves waking to a world of pain -- and potentially, missing limbs or organs. The organs, as it turns out, are harvested either for Mammon's pet projects, or to be recycled into the cafeteria for food for the patients. Of course not all the food is people, but it may be difficult to tell what is what... and some may be too hungry to care. If you’re that worried, you’re more than welcome to stick to the fruit cup or Jell-o!
Bodies will be modified with either animalistic features, interesting prosthetics, or potentially even joined to another sinner!
Fins, gills, and other haunting features may be fitted to sinners... who additionally may find that they can't breathe normally any longer and crave the water. Some of them may find themselves moved to a wing more suited to amphibians, where the halls and rooms are partially (or totally, in some cases) underwater. The hospital food is different, but if you've been transferred here you might already be thinking that insects and plankton are starting to taste pretty good.
Others may find animalistic behaviors slowly start to take over as they adjust to their new additions.
Others will just be left with their missing limbs to wonder what is to come.
Additionally, some may find themselves strapped into a dentist's chair and given a perfect new smile. Who hasn't wanted fangs at some point in their life, right?
SAD PILLS, HAPPY PILLS, ALL THE PILLS WARNINGS: drugs, drug abuse, dependence
Additionally, others may find themselves the subject of experimental cocktails of varying kinds of pills and injections. The side effects will vary between insanely intense aphrodisiacs, euphoria, extreme sadness or violence, or strange abilities. Sudden telepathy that allows you to hear the thoughts of others around you (or is it all in your head?), laser vision that's uncontrollable, or possibly just hives, warts, or other discomforts.
Not to worry. It's absolutely for your own good, sinners!
All those strange urges you may start to feel, whether it be the urge to commit violence or other acts that feel out of character for you, should be reported to your physician immediately for observation.

Willis has arrived on the scene to treat any injuries acquired! While he does seem to genuinely care about patients and doesn’t seem too thrilled with the needless surgeries and experimentation, he is extremely old fashioned.
His demonic little helpers are barely knee height and tend to get a little mischievous with patients! The jabbing with pitchforks is absolutely necessary, they insist! They're just checking reflexes.
But be prepared for all old time remedies, prepared to heal you up the right way, how it used to work.... That lingering toothache you have from your fangectomy should be handled easily with a little cocaine. And if some of you are in a panic when nothing at all has even happened to you, that's obviously just a bout of hysteria. You probably just need some good and proper vibrators to work on you. And while you're at it, take some heroin for that cough.
RECREATION Of course seeing to patients' health is of the utmost priority, including their mental well-being, so when not being confined to their room, patients are allowed to do at least a bit of mingling. There is a rather nice, enclosed park to take a careful stroll through, arts and crafts, and bribing staff for extra pain medicine.
By every evening, the voice will be back, booming through the speakers stationed around the hospital. "It is time for quiet hours. We ask that all staff and guests respect the patients' need for rest and do their utmost to be quiet during this time. No sounds should be made. Close your eyes and get some rest."
Lights will be cut in all rooms and hallways to let an eerie silence settle in. So quiet, all you have to enjoy is the sounds of beeping machines and your own heart beating. While the nurses may take on their usual grotesque appearances, sinners seem to be living their nightmares 24/7 now.
GIVE A HAND WARNINGS: amputation mention, medical horror
As hopeless as things seem for some, not every sinner has been involuntarily checked into the hospital. Those still lingering in the hotel might be content to go about their usual routines, of course. But others might be more inclined to do something before their friends are all vivisected and stitched together into something else. To them, Lucifer sends an appeal.
Of course Lucifer is none too thrilled by Mammon's antics and will be asking for help to get sinners out. He'll provide assistance Infiltrating the hospital to gather intel or check on patients, and sometimes even sneak them out. He hopes that they can use their stubborn willpower to keep from succumbing to what Mammon has done to the place. But then again, it's one thing to imagine oneself a hero and another thing entirely to maintain one's resolve when some of the disguises prove too effective.
This is a learning hospital, you see, and the eldest staff is happy to teach curious newcomers. If you show up in scrubs, then you must be wanting to assist in a surgery. Come along, right this way. No need to worry about washing your hands. Just hold on to this saw while the senior specialist talks you through conducting an amputation. Who knows? You might find that you like it once you've done a few procedures. It can be satisfying work with a busy schedule.
But if some can resist the urge to lapse into learning a trade or becoming drunk with power at having access to filling pharmacy prescriptions, there might still be a path to rescue at least a few. Not all staff are on board with Mammon's latest act of greed. Some staff may even try to delay patient surgeries or treatments for as long as possible, or take punishment for sinners inside, buying time for them to escape. Maybe you can't help everyone, but at least you can help someone.
Misc. This month, Mercy's going through sort of a rebranding. More services for all! It's all in the interest of creating a healthier community.
